Class DescriptionsBACODA APPROVED Substance Abuse Education Program (SAEP) The Substance Abuse Education Program (SAEP) is a two-day program specifically designed to intervene on substance use by raising consciousness about the effect that alcohol and/or drug use has on the individual’s life and others around them. Any person who uses substance or who is affected by someone else’s use may participate in the education process. The cost is $125 and it is due at the time of registration. The two-day sessions are offered every month on a weekend. Substance Education and Learning (SEAL) Life 1 on 1 Skills Training for Adolesents is designed to enhance the prosocial, interpersonal, stress management, planning, and communication skills of the aggressive adolescent. The overall goal is to provide students with the encouragement, support, and skills to have a more positive and productive school experience. Participants MUST MAKE an appointment to be screened and have a UA test completed upon registering for class. Screening and UA appointments may be made by contacting us at: 281-212-2900 or 800-510-3111 The class will be held from 6:00-8:00p.m.* No Puffin' Tobacco Awareness Program Section 161.253 state on conviction of the individual for an offense under Section 161.252, the court shall suspend execution of sentence and shall require the defendant to attend a tobacco awareness program approved by the commissioner. The court may require the parent or legal guardian of the defendant to attend the tobacco awareness program with the defendant. No Puffin' Tobacco Awareness Program teaches participants about smoking behaviors, consequences, tobacco advertising, and ways to stop smoking. This is a state mandated class for MINORS who have been found in possession of tobacco products and have received a ticket. Registration in person. Persons under the age of 18 must be accompany by parent or guardian. You must be registered three days prior to the start of class. If a UA or screening is needed, you must have the service completed three days prior to the class start date.
STATE MANDATED Texas Law The Texas DWI Education Program is the Texas state mandated class for those who have received a first DWI offense. It provides 12 hours of education covering the effects of alcohol on the body and driving abilities as well as the driving laws. Participants must attend all classes in order to receive a certificate. If a participate misses a class he/she must start over. Call to schedule an appointment prior to registration for all DWI Education courses held at our Angelton Office. Dates are to be determined. **Pre-registration is required. You must be registered three days prior to the start of class. If a UA or screening is needed, you must have the service completed three days prior to the class start date. Driving While Intoxicated for Repeat Offenders Effective Sept.1, 1993, Article 42.12, Section 12(J), Code of Criminal Procedure, as amended by the 73rd Legislature, states that a "Judge shall require a defendant who is punished for a subsequent DWI as a condition of community supervision, to attend and successfully complete an educational program for repeat offenders approved by TCADA (Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse)." This 7 1/2 week program was designed to educate participants about chemical dependency and the problems associated with chemical dependency. It also provides intensive instructions about specific actions a participant can take to prevent future DWI offenses. To prevent alcohol/drug related problems in other life areas, necessary lifestyle changes are addressed. Since the maximum class size is limited to 15 participants, registration for this class is done by appointments only. You must be registered three days prior to the start of class. If a UA or screening is needed, you must have the service completed three days prior to the class start date. Texas Drup Offender Education Program Texas Law The Texas Drug Offender Education Program (TDOEP) is the Texas state mandated class for those who have been convicted of certain drug offenses and/or have had their driver’s license revoked. This class consists of a total of 15 hours. Participants must attend all classes in order to receive a certificate. **Pre-registration is required. The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code, Section 106.02, 106.025, 106.06, and the 1993-94 Texas Traffic Laws, pp. 439-440, regulate the behavior of a minor in relation to alcohol. The 1991 and 1993 Texas Legislature added to section to the TABC Code (106.115) permitting a court to require attendance in an alcohol awareness course in addition to the fine for first offenders. In addition to information on alcohol, BACODA addresses the use of marijuana and tobacco. The MIP program (Alcohol Awareness) is the state mandated class for minors who have been found in possession of illegal substances and have received an MIP ticket. Registration in person. Persons under the age of 16 must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian. You must be registered three days prior to the start of class. If a UA or screening is needed, you must have the service completed three days prior to the class start date.
