CEO MessageDear Site Guest/BACODA Supporter, Board, Staff, and Clients: With your support our main office is moving back from temporary quarters to our main site 1300 A Bay Area Boulevard, Houston, Texas. We are located a little over a mile up the road (Saturn) from NASA’s main entrance and Space Center Houston. Many of our offices are without desks and furniture. Our confidential files and servers were protected and survived Hurricane IKE, but the rest of our papers and supplies may or may not have survived. We are unpacking slowly and with some hesitation. The heavy rains this week have shown up a watery leak in our accounting department, but repairs will happen. It will take several more months to fully clean up. We were forced to postpone our major event – Healing Field until next March. Please check our Healing Field website section for updates. Sitting at a plastic table surrounded by boxes and mess, it would be easy to be depressed and defeated. But BACODA’s middle name should be “Recovery.” The same behaviors needed to prevent substance use/abuse and needed to help individuals, families and communities recover from substance abuse are needed to survive the latest Hurricane. Our staff and board are up to the task. Our communities have rallied; and from Galveston to all along the coast every day is better. Hands reaching out and helping others touches our hearts and inspires us to work even harder. Remember BACODA when you are donating to nonprofits helping our communities, remember that our hard work is making a difference and remember BACODA is here for you and your family to answer your questions and to help. Have a great Thanksgiving! Sincerely, Karen Van Horne, CEO |
